Between 7 and 13 June 2020, the Neighbourhood Watch Central Support Team encouraged neighbours, particularly those in Neighbourhood Watch Groups, to celebrate being just that – neighbours.

W Bro Tom Robson, of Innsworth Lodge, is the NHW co-ordinator for a Group in Barnwood, Gloucester.  It was decided that, in “lockdown”, there was no chance of the Road NHW getting together as a group.  However, as there had  been a pretty good turnout for the ten “Clap for NHS and other support Services” on Thursdays (which has now run its course) and, there had also been a fine showing to wish one of the Group a “Happy 50th Birthday”, something could be done.

It was, therefore, proposed that, on Sunday 7 June and Saturday 13 June, at 1900 hours (7pm) households could come out to  toast the neighbourhood – with whatever liquid took their fancy – and greet neighbours who have also emerged; keeping the appropriate social distance.  The photos show two members of Innsworth Lodge (Bill Beedie and Tom Robson) with some of the assembled company, taking advantage of the good weather to toast their neighbours – and an end to “lockdown”.
